National League for Nursing Salutes Adelphi for the 2024 Centers of Excellence in Nursing Education

Garden City, NY (09/26/2024) — The National League for Nursing has recertificated Adelphi University's College of Nursing and Public Health as a Center of Excellence for advancing the science of nursing education.

Adelphi is among only 13 nursing education programs from across the country and the academic spectrum of higher education in nursing, as well as leading teaching hospitals and clinical sites, to receive the highly competitive designation this year.

"We are proud to be the only program in the nation recognized by the NLN this year in the category of advancing the science of nursing education," said Adelphi's Associate Dean for Academic Affairs Maryann Forbes, PhD, the head of the NLN Center of Excellence Steering Committee. "This designation reflects our faculty's dedication to innovative, evidence-based teaching across all levels of nursing education. The award reflects our ongoing commitment to teaching practices that prepare practice-ready graduates."

The national mark of distinction is given to programs by the NLN based on their ability to demonstrate in concrete, measurable terms sustained excellence in faculty development, nursing education research, student learning and professional development, and academic progression in nursing.

"This recognition is a testament to our dedicated faculty and administrators who strive to create engaging learning environments based on the latest research and practice as they prepare our future nurses for an ever-changing world," said Deborah Hunt, PhD, dean of the College of Nursing and Public Health. "We are particularly proud that this is the third time we have received this prestigious recognition. I would also like to acknowledge the significant contribution of Maryann Forbes, PhD, associate dean for academic affairs, who led our faculty team to success."

Dean Hunt, Associate Dean Forbes and Committee members attended the formal recognition, which took place the 2024 NLN Education Summit at the Honors Convocation on Friday, September 20, in San Antonio, Texas.
