U.S. News & World Report Names Adelphi a 2025 Best College, Underscoring Value and Strength of Degree Programs

Garden City, NY (09/24/2024) — Adelphi University continues to outrank Long Island private universities on U.S. News & World Report's 2025 National Universities rankings. At No.189, Adelphi is the highest-ranked private university in Nassau and Suffolk counties. This ranking follows Adelphi's noteworthy improvement in recent national rankings, notably The Wall Street Journal/College Pulse and Forbes annual lists.

In the U.S. News Best Colleges 2025 announcement released today, Adelphi was also ranked in the Best Value School, Best College for Veterans and Top Performer on Social Mobility categories. Adelphi's undergraduate programs in nursing and business rose in the annual rankings, with the College of Nursing and Public Health's undergraduate program ranked No. 218 (a 10-spot increase from 2024) and the Robert B. Willumstad School of Business's undergraduate business program rising 29 spots to No. 289. The Gordon F. Derner School of Psychology's undergraduate program is now ranked No. 293 in the nation.

U.S. News' methodology in ranking the top universities in the U.S. relies on multiple factors, including a school's academic quality, graduate outcomes and peer assessment. This year, U.S. News removed two metrics in which Adelphi is particularly strong: first-generation graduation rates and overall graduation rate performance. While this shift impacted its overall spot on the list, the University's competitive 2025 rankings highlight the exceptional value and outcomes of an Adelphi degree, driven by the University's Momentum 2 strategic plan.

"This is a meaningful recognition of the value and strength of a degree from Adelphi University," said Christopher Storm, PhD, Adelphi's provost and executive vice president. "We are also very happy to see the notable rankings improvements in our undergraduate business and nursing programs, and to continue to be recognized for outstanding accessibility and value."
