Adelphi Annual Golf Classic to Benefit Student-Athletes, Honor Long Island Philanthropist

Garden City, NY (09/07/2023) — On Thursday, September 21, Adelphi University will host its 35th Annual Golf Classic at the North Hempstead Country Club in Port Washington, New York. The event will raise funds to benefit Adelphi's and the Athletic Department.

This year's Classic will honor Kristopher Amplo, a 2000 graduate of Adelphi, and owner and vice president of J.C. Steel Erectors. Amplo is a seasoned executive and entrepreneur, and he has led his company on projects including UBS Arena, JFK, LGA, TSX Broadway in Times Square and Adelphi's recent expansion of the Ruth S. Harley University Center (UC). In addition to Amplo's career, he has been instrumental in the greater Long Island community for many years, supporting dozens of Long Island philanthropic organizations. His efforts have resulted in numerous awards and community recognitions, including the Clark Gillies Humanitarian Award given by Huntington Hospital in 2022 and the Heart of the Museum Award at the Michael Murphy Navy Seal Museum in Sayville for donating steel and labor for the construction of the museum.

Amplo graduated from Adelphi with a degree in secondary education and history and helped lead the University's men's lacrosse team to its second straight national championship in 1999.

The golf classic will have a morning shotgun at 8:30 a.m. with registration and breakfast from 7 to 8:30 a.m. and an afternoon shotgun at 1 p.m. with registration and brunch beginning at 11 a.m. The event will also include a cocktail reception in the evening followed by a ceremony recognizing this year's honoree and a presentation of awards, raffles and an online silent auction which is live now.

Participants can register to play or provide a sponsorship by emailing Jackie Ahmetaj, associate director of Adelphi Fund and signature events, at jahmetaj@adelphi.edu. To learn more about the event visit: adelphi.edu/giving/annual-golf-classic
