Adelphi Celebrates New University Center with Ribbon Cutting

Garden City, NY (06/27/2022) — The Adelphi community gathered to celebrate the renovated and expanded Ruth S. Harley University Center with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday, June 10.

Speakers at the event included Adelphi Board Chair Marc S. Strachan, President Christine M. Riordan and student Tyler Masure, incoming president of University's Student Government Association. Many other Adelphi trustees and community members, along with design and construction partner representatives, also were in attendance.

The long-awaited ribbon cutting for the Ruth S. Harley University Center was a great moment for the Adelphi community, said President Riordan. "It was worth the tremendous effort and resilience our community showed through the pandemic. Our beautifully reimagined, modern UC will be a hub of activity for our Garden City campus community and region for decades to come."

Officially opened in January 2021, the renovated and expanded UC includes new lobby and meeting spaces, improved student lounges, the reimagined Thomas Dixon Lovely Ballroom, a full Starbucks, art gallery, and an expanded dining hall and outdoor terrace.
