Adelphi Lecture Focuses on Economic Disruption, Survival and Growth
Garden City, NY (10/27/2020) — Kevin O'Connor, president and CEO of Bridge Bancorp and BNB Bank, and Humera Qazi, a managing director of Morgan Stanley, will explore how the economy is being affected by politics, the pandemic, social justice and technology at an Adelphi University event on Thursday, November 5.
"Great Minds, Great Conversations: Disruption, Survival and Growth -- How our Economy is Adapting to the Times" begins at 7 p.m., and will be presented online.
Qazi, a 1993 Adelphi graduate and current trustee, is head of Wealth Management Operations' Client Services Group at Morgan Stanley, responsible for client service and client experience strategies. She serves as a lead for global operations' diversity and inclusion in the Americas, implementing initiatives focused on accelerating the pace of change in diversity and inclusion. She previously was a managing director in KPMG's Management Consulting practice, serving the financial services industry, specializing in information management, data and analytics, and business intelligence with AI.
A vocal advocate for women in the workplace, Qazi is a member of Morgan Stanley's Women in Wealth network and served as co-chair of KPMG's Network of Women for Long Island before that. She has served on the board of directors of the Women's Bond Club, the oldest organization of women in financial services in New York.
O'Connor, a 1984 Adelphi graduate, prior to assuming his role with Bridge Bancorp and BNB Bank in 2008, was the executive vice president and treasurer of North Fork Bank. A certified public accountant, he is an active supporter of local New York communities, both personally and professionally, O'Connor is a past president and advisory board member of Suffolk County Council of the Boy Scouts of America, and is currently a trustee of the Suffolk County Community College and a board member of the New York State Bankers Association.
Recently named one of Long Island's Top CEO's by Long Island Business News, O'Connor has been honored by Cornell Cooperative Extension of Suffolk County, Eastern Long Island Hospital, Suffolk Community College and Boy Scouts Suffolk County Chapter for his proactive role in championing these causes.
Both Qazi and O'Connor are graduates of Adelphi's Robert B. Willumstad School of Business. The discussion will be introduced and moderated by Rajib Sanyal, PhD, dean of the school.
