Adelphi Named a Forbes Best-in-State Employer for Sixth Consecutive Year

Garden City, NY (09/11/2026) — For the sixth year in a row, Adelphi University has been named to Forbes' list of America's Best Employers By State. Adelphi ranked No. 55 in New York State and stands as the only private university on Long Island to earn a spot on the 2026 list.

Of the thousands of organizations across the country considered for this prestigious ranking, Adelphi was among just 1,400 employers nationwide and 102 in New York to make the list.

"Receiving this recognition from Forbes for the sixth consecutive year is a tremendous honor," said Michael Rhattigan, executive vice president of finance and administration. "This news comes at an exciting moment for Adelphi as we welcome students back for the new academic year and build on the energy brought by our new president, Michael Balboni. Knowing this award reflects the direct feedback of our employees shows that Adelphi's focus on fostering a supportive, fulfilling workplace remains as strong as ever."

To create the annual ranking, Forbes partnered with market research firm Statista to survey more than 245,000 employees working for organizations with at least 500 U.S.-based workers. Survey respondents across all 50 states and Washington, D.C., rated their likelihood to recommend their current employer on a zero-to-10 scale. They also evaluated workplaces on key operational criteria, including fair compensation, company culture, career growth opportunities and institutional action on serious workplace issues.

Additionally, participants evaluated former employers from the past two years and recognized peers within their industry. Final scores incorporated these direct responses along with historical survey data from the previous three years.
