Adelphi Named Top University in the World by Times Higher Education
Garden City, NY (10/10/2024) — For the second year, Adelphi University has been recognized among the world's most prestigious universities in the newly released Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2025. Adelphi has maintained its national ranking of 168 and ranks in the 1501+ category worldwide.
This year, the world rankings featured more than 2,000 institutions from 115 countries and territories. Of the more than 5,000 colleges and universities in the United States, Adelphi was just one of 182 colleges selected for inclusion in the 2025 rankings-placing it in the top 4% of universities in the nation.
"Adelphi's extraordinary academic culture and institutional priorities are well-represented in the qualities recognized by THE World University Rankings," said Christopher Storm, PhD, Adelphi University provost and executive vice president. "High-impact teaching, a vibrant research environment and quality scholarly output, and our emphasis on global thought are hallmarks of our University."
According to THE, The World University Rankings are generated based on five pillars, each representing a key area of higher education excellence: teaching, research environment, research quality, industry, and international outlook. Read more about the methodology.
Of the five pillars, Adelphi scored highest in the teaching pillar, which relies upon the academic reputation survey administered by THE as well as some data points including faculty: student ratios and institutional income. The University also scored highly in the international outlook pillar, which represents the ability of a university to attract undergraduates, postgraduates and faculty from all over the world.
