Garden City, NY (05/06/2021) — With summer just around the corner and college in view for high school seniors, Adelphi University is rolling out its yearly college-readiness programs for high school students. Both the Hispanic Community Partnership and Pre-College Certificate programs are designed to introduce students to higher education's hands-on, high-impact learning as well as the college application process.

Pre-College Certificate Program

Rising high school sophomores, juniors and seniors may participate in virtual academic workshops led by world-class faculty from August 2-5. The areas of study include health science, the arts, technology and business led by Adelphi professors as well as college-readiness workshops led by admissions officers.

Registration for the program costs $50. At the conclusion of the session, students will earn a certificate in the subject area they choose.

Hispanic Community Partnership Program

Designed for Hispanic high school students, this program exposes students to college life while gaining the know-how, skills, resources and confidence to pursue a college degree.

Only 50 students will be admitted to the program, which runs July 19-23 from 10 a.m to noon. The daily schedule consists of at least two workshops that will tackle subjects including college essay writing, navigating the college application process, resume building and financial literacy.

Applicants to this program must demonstrate qualities of potential and promise and be of Hispanic background, a rising senior and in good academic standing. Students who participate in the program and wish to apply to Adelphi will have their application fee waived, and will be eligible for a $1,000 per year award (Adelphi Advantage Award).
