Adelphi PAC Presents New Music XVIII: Yarn/Wire on February 17

Garden City, NY (01/31/2023) — The annual "new music" series Yarn/Wire marks its 18th year at the Adelphi University Performing Arts Center (PAC) stage Friday, February 17. The new music quartet is dedicated to the promotion of creative, experimental new music in the U.S. and abroad. The show will feature works by Alex Mincek, Kelley Sheehan and Enno Poppe.

Yarn/Wire supports composers and audiences through live performances, educational activities, and large-scale collaborative projects. The ensemble is devoted to expanding the representation of composers including but not limited to those who identify as women, LGBTQIA+, Black, African, Indigenous, Latina(o)(x), Asian, or Arab.

Members of the quartet include Laura Barger and Julia Den Boer on piano and Russell Greenberg and Sae Hashimoto playing percussion. Rob Cosgrove is the Managing Director.

Barger is a founding member of Yarn/Wire, and has been a frequent guest performer with many of the top American contemporary ensembles, including the Wet Ink Ensemble, International Contemporary Ensemble, and Talea Ensemble. French-American Den Boer performs internationally as a soloist and chamber musician. Recent appearances include the Festival d'Automne and the Infuse Series in Paris, Unerhorte Musik in Berlin, the Tectonics Festival in Glasgow, and the CMC in Toronto. Yarn/Wire founder Greenberg has performed with Wet Ink Ensemble, International Contemporary Ensemble, Argento, Signal Ensemble, San Francisco Contemporary Music Players, and Two-Headed Calf. The newest member of Yarn/Wire, Japanese-born Hashimoto's unique approach to performance is cultivated by her intensive classical training and a decade of freelance experience in NYC performing symphonic, baroque, contemporary, and avant-garde music. As an orchestral musician, she has appeared as guest timpanist with the New York Philharmonic and the New York City Ballet.
