Adelphi PAC to Present Percussion Quartet So Percussion in Concert
Garden City, NY (03/22/2021) — American percussion quartet So Percussion will make their performance debut at Adelphi Performing Arts Center's New Music Concert Series on Friday, March 26, at 7:30 p.m. The virtual event will be live from the PAC Concert Hall.
So Percussion, a New York City-based group with more than 20 albums to their credit, has performed at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Walt Disney Hall and at the Eaux Claires Festival, among others.
The quartet, which pursues a wide range of social and community outreach programs, will present new collaborative works and educational initiatives to engage the Adelphi audience. The group will perform works written in the 21st century for a wide array of percussion including movements from Amid the Noise (2006) by So Percussion founding member Jason Treuting, Taxidermy (2012) by the youngest recipient of the Pulitzer Prize, Caroline Shaw, Gone (2018) by Puerto Rican-born composer and multi-instrumentalist Angélica Negrón and Melodic Concept III (2019) for Trinidadian steel pans by composer, arranger and steel drum artist, Kendall K. Williams.
