Adelphi's Strategic Plan Competition Set For April 27

Garden City, NY (04/22/2021) —

The virtual stage is set for the finals of the Strategic Plan Competition organized by Adelphi University's Robert B. Willumstad School of Business in partnership with the Innovation Center. The annual event will run from 8:30 a.m to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 27.

Eight finalists, all Adelphi students, will present their final proposals to a panel of judges made up of industry leaders for a chance to win $11,000 in cash prizes.

Finalists for the 2021 Strategic Plan Competition are Riva Iliazi (her plan: Impetus Vintage), Zameena Jivraj (Healthspace), Eric Meirs and Yuleidy Baez (EcoDines), Kira Millei (Second Skin: Human Protection Shell), Yuanmeng Wang and Nadia Khan (A Light in The Dark Alley: Telemental Health Training for Mental Health Professional and General Public) and Danelya Zholdasbekova (Fast Eats).

"We are extremely proud of our students who took time and effort beyond their coursework during an unprecedented year to build and finesse their strategic plans," said MaryAnne Hyland, interim dean of Adelphi's Robert B. Willumstad School of Business.

The judges for this year's competition include Shari Wallack, president of Buy The Sea; Chiwete John-Njokanma, co-founder of FINT Technology Africa; Andy Bailen, managing partner, 3Pe Consulting LLC; and Graziela Fusaro, director of Adelphi's Innovation Center.

"The Robert B. Willumstad School of Business and the Innovation Center are delighted to be able to host this competition during these unprecedented times," Hyland said. "We are appreciative of the efforts of our students and our judges as well as the financial support of alumnus Kevin Mahony '83, a member of the Adelphi University President's Advisory Council."

The first-prize winner will receive $5,000.Second prize is $3,000, $2,000 for third place and there is a $1,000 award for the best 90-second elevator pitch.
