Adelphi Spirit Weekend 2023 Set for October 13-15

Garden City, NY (09/20/2023) — Adelphi University's seventh annual Spirit Weekend will offer a jam-packed schedule of family-friendly activities across their Garden City campus October 13-15. The weekend will feature fan favorites like the Spirit Carnival, the Fun Run, the Alumni Brunch, Oktoberfest and Casino Night - all open to the community.

"Spirit Weekend is a great opportunity for everyone - students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends, to connect," said Megan Stewart, director of alumni relations at Adelphi. "We are excited to have our alumni come back home to enjoy all of the amazing activities."

Spirit Weekend highlights include:

Panthers for a Cause 5K, 1K and Kids Fun Run

Saturday, October 14 at 8 a.m. (check in), run starts at 9 a.m.

Participants can run, walk or stroll in-person on Adelphi's Garden City campus to benefit the Girls Scouts of Nassau County. New this year, participants can now choose a 1K option.

Adelphi Spirit Carnival

Saturday, October 14 at 1p.m.

Adelphi's Spirit Weekend Panther Carnival has something for everyone. Registration includes full access to carnival rides, catering, and food trucks, family fun activities and much more. Admission costs $25 for current students, staff and faculty and $30 for alumni, family, and friends ($35 at the door). The event will take place in parking lot 5.

Oktoberfest

Saturday, October 14 at 1p.m.

The Long Island Airstream Experience, including alumni-owned brewery, Roots + Branch, will provide the beer specials. The first 100 attendees will receive a special commemorative Adelphi Oktoberfest glass.

In the Classroom: Nutrition for Healthy Living

Saturday, October 14 at 1p.m.

Adelphi's College of Professional and Continuing Studies will host an opportunity for you to sit in on a lecture by faculty member Tracy Stopler in her popular course titled "Nutrition for Healthy Living".

A Toast and a Roast to Nick Petron

Saturday, October 14 at 6:30 p.m.Celebrate the retirement of beloved professor, Adelphi's Department of Theatre chair Nick Petron (Adelphi 1970 graduate),for his 50 years of service.

Other exciting events include the Richard Outlaw '82 Art Exhibition, a scenic tour around campus and the Greek Letters Lunch.
