Adelphi Theatre Department to Present "The Revolutionists" in Black Box Theater
Garden City, NY (02/03/2026) — Adelphi University's Department of Theatre is set to stage Lauren Gunderson's acclaimed play, "The Revolutionists," in the Black Box Theater at Adelphi's Performing Arts Center. The production, directed by Naima Warden, will run from February 25 to February 28, 2026, with performances at 6:30 p.m. on February 25, and 7 p.m. on February 26. A post-show talkback with performers and members of the creative team and actors will follow the February 26 performance.
Starring Adelphi' Theatre students, this irreverent, girl-powered comedy is set during the French Revolution's Reign of Terror and features four formidable women: playwright Olympe de Gouges, assassin Charlotte Corday, former queen Marie Antoinette, and Haitian rebel Marianne Angelle. Together, they navigate the extremist turmoil of 1793 Paris, confronting themes of violence, legacy, art, activism, feminism, and terrorism. The play offers a grand and dream-tweaked narrative about how individuals can endeavor to change the world.
