Adelphi University Earns Recognition in U.S. News & World Report Graduate Rankings
Garden City, NY (04/08/2025) — In the recently released 2025 U.S. News & World Report annual rankings of graduate programs, Adelphi University saw significant improvements in several key program areas, including nursing, psychology and public health. The University earned a position on seven U.S. News graduate program lists, marking continued recognition of the academic quality, impact and reputation of its graduate and postgraduate programs, which include master's degrees, doctorates and advanced certificates.
"We are incredibly proud of the recognition Adelphi University has received in this year's rankings, particularly the improvements we've made in our nursing, psychology and public health programs," said Christopher Storm, PhD, Adelphi's provost and executive vice president. "These rankings reflect the dedication of our faculty, staff and students in continuously striving for excellence in education, research and service to our communities."
Key Improvements in 2025 Rankings:
In this year's rankings, Adelphi realized improvements in key program areas, as well as a solid standing in several others, further demonstrating its commitment to its students and excellence in higher education. These include:
- Best Graduate Nursing Programs: Adelphi's graduate nursing programs rank 84th, improving by eight spots from last year and 29 spots from 2023. The College of Nursing and Public Health currently offers an MS in Nursing Education, an MS and DNP degree programs in Adult Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner and Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, and a PhD in Nursing Philosophy.
- Best Psychology Schools: Adelphi's Gordon F. Derner School of Psychology graduate programs rank 191st, improving by 19 spots. They include master's degrees in General Psychology, Mental Health Counseling and School Psychology, a PhD in Clinical Psychology, a PsyD in School Psychology and numerous advanced certificates.
- Best Public Health Programs: Adelphi's programs in the College of Nursing and Public Health rank 168th, improving by 33 spots.They include an online and in-person Master of Public Health and an MS in Healthcare Informatics.
- Best Audiology Programs: Adelphi ranks 84th. The Ruth S. Ammon College of Education and Health Sciences offers a Doctor of Audiology (AuD).
- Best Clinical Psychology Programs: Adelphi's programs in the Gordon F. Derner School of Psychology rank 176th.
- Best Speech-Language Pathology Programs: Adelphi ranks 198th after not ranking in the previous year. The Ruth S. Ammon College of Education and Health Sciences offers a PhD in Speech-Language Sciences and Disorders.
- Best Graduate Part-Time MBA Programs: This year, Adelphi's MBA program is included on the list after not being ranked last year.
Adelphi's Standing Among Selected Peers:
- Best Graduate Nursing Programs: Adelphi ranks ahead of Molloy College and St. Joseph's University.
- Best Psychology Schools: Adelphi is the only institution among its regional peers to have improved in the rankings, with Stony Brook University remaining unchanged.
- Best Speech-Language Pathology Programs: Adelphi outranks LIU Brooklyn, LIU Post and Molloy College in this category.
Methodology
The Adelphi University College of Nursing and Public Health ranking as a Best Graduate Nursing Program and the Robert B. Willumstad School of Business ranking as a Best Graduate Part-Time MBA include statistical components provided by universities as well as peer assessments. While some rankings are released annually, others, like the reputational rankings for programs such as audiology, clinical psychology and public health, are based solely on peer review and are not updated every year.
