Adelphi University to Host Fall Virtual College Awareness Day

Garden City, NY (12/08/2021) — On Tuesday, December 14, Adelphi University will host its Fall Virtual College Awareness Day from 8 a.m. to 12 noon. With the help of Adelphi staff and chaperones from six schools, more than 300 students between the 5th and 12th grades will have the opportunity to engage in workshops and discussions designed to educate and excite students about the college experience.

The conference-style event will include participants from Robert H. Goddard High School in Queens, PS 212 in Brooklyn, New Heights Middle School in Brooklyn, Pan American International High School, Pennsylvania Leadership Charter School in Philadelphia and Evergreen Charter School in Franklin Square.

During the event, students will engage in interactive college-readiness workshops that will give them the tools they need to begin creating an academic and professional plan for their future. Experts from Adelphi will explain admissions requirements, the application process, academic programs and the benefits of a college education.

Each student will receive a digital copy of a "I Have a Plan" card to encourage them to think about what their dreams are and the steps they can take to achieve their goals, starting with their education. The goal of the event is to show students that no matter their age or where they are in life, they can always aspire to do and be better for themselves and their community.

The event will conclude with a student-guided virtual campus tour.
