Adelphi Will Continue Test-Optional Admissions Through Spring 2024
Garden City, NY (02/28/2022) — Admission to Adelphi University will continue to be standardized-test-optional for current high school juniors applying for admission this coming year. This flexibility will continue for admission through the spring 2024 semester.
In collaboration with University leadership, the Adelphi Faculty Senate approved the extension, joining the majority of colleges and universities around the nation taking the step to adopt test-optional measures.
"We are proud to offer continued flexibility to our applicants," said Kristen Capezza, vice president for enrollment management and University communications. "We remain committed to our holistic review of applicants and believe strongly in the ability to evaluate students on the basis of more than a single test score. We hope that this decision helps to reduce the stress of an already complicated process for many students and families who are considering the benefits of an Adelphi education and experience."
Since the fall of 2020, Adelphi has extended its test-optional policy - now through spring 2024 - allowing students the option but not the requirement to submit the SAT or ACT for admission consideration. In addition, merit scholarships continue to be awarded regardless of a student's decision to submit or not submit test scores. Prior to the coronavirus pandemic, Adelphi had been evaluating a permanent shift to test-optional and continues to do so.
Prospective students who are non-native English speakers will still be required to submit English language exam scores that demonstrate their proficiency in the language. In addition, a select few joint degree programs will require submission of test scores based on partner institutions' requirements. Should any of those organizations modify their requirements to become test-optional, Adelphi staff will counsel students accordingly.
