Award-Winning Author Jacqueline Woodson to Discuss Literature at Adelphi Online Event

Garden City, NY (01/24/2022) — New York Times bestselling author and poet Jacqueline Woodson will discuss her works and writing process at Adelphi University on Tuesday, February 8 at 7 p.m. Woodson will be in conversation with accomplished poet and novelist Jacqueline Jones LaMon, Adelphi professor and vice president of diversity, equity and inclusion.

"An Evening with Jacqueline Woodson," is part of the "Great Books, Great Conversations" series, which features Adelphi authors. This event will be moderated by avid reader Sybile Val, MD, a 1999 graduate of Adelphi.

Woodson, recipient of Adelphi's honorary doctorate in 2016, is the author of more than thirty award-winning books for adults, young adults and children. Among her many accolades, she is a four-time Newbery Honor winner, a four-time National Book Award finalist and a two-time Coretta Scott King Award winner. She received the 2014 National Book Award for her New York Times bestselling memoir "Brown Girl Dreaming," which also received the Coretta Scott King Award, a Newbery Honor, the NAACP Image Award and a Sibert Honor. In 2015, Woodson was named the Young People's Poet Laureate by the Poetry Foundation. In 2020, Woodson was named a Macarthur "Genius" Fellow and awarded the Hans Christian Andersen Medal.

Her books include "Before the Ever After," New York Times bestsellers "The Year We Learned to Fly," "The Day You Begin" and "Harbor Me," "The Other Side," "Each Kindness," Caldecott Honor book "Coming On Home Soon," Newbery Honor winners "Feathers," "Show Way," and "After Tupac and D Foster," and "Miracle's Boys." She also has written the adult books "Red at the Bone," a New York Times bestseller, and "Another Brooklyn," a 2016 National Book Award finalist.

This Adelphi Great Books, Great Conversations event is sponsored by the University's Pleasures of Reading and Literature endowment.
