For Third Year in a Row, Adelphi Receives INSIGHT Into Diversity's Higher Education Excellence in Diversity Award
Garden City, NY (09/02/2020) — Adelphi has received the 2020 Higher Education Excellence in Diversity (HEED) Award from INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine, the oldest and largest diversity-focused publication in higher education. As a recipient of the annual HEED Award-a national honor recognizing U.S. colleges and universities that demonstrate an outstanding commitment to diversity and inclusion-Adelphi will be featured, along with 89 other recipients, in the November 2020 issue of INSIGHT Into Diversity. This is the third year in a row that the University has been so honored.
"We are so delighted to have been recognized for the hard work of so many campus partners to help us achieve this great honor," said Jacqueline Jones LaMon, JD, vice president of diversity, equity and inclusion at Adelphi. "We will continue to promote and support a campus that is based on equity and anti-racist practices, and educate our community to become better citizens. INSIGHT Into Diversity selected Adelphi based on a strong track record of increasing and supporting diversity, from hiring of faculty and staff to recruitment and retention of students of color.
"The HEED Award process consists of a comprehensive and rigorous application that includes questions relating to the recruitment and retention of students and employees -and best practices for both-continued leadership support for diversity, and other aspects of campus diversity and inclusion," said Lenore Pearlstein, publisher of INSIGHT Into Diversity. "We take a detailed approach to reviewing each application in deciding who will be named a HEED Award recipient. Our standards are high, and we look for institutions where diversity and inclusion are woven into the work being done every day across their campus."
