Long Island's Own Broadway Star Melissa Errico Sings Sondheim at Adelphi PAC
Garden City, NY (10/16/2023) — Adelphi University's Performing Arts Center (PAC) is excited to welcome Long Island's own Melissa Errico-Broadway star, actress, recording artist, and author-as she celebrates the brilliance of her mentor, Stephen Sondheim, the late, and greatest, musical theater composer of our generation. Tony nominee Melissa Errico will bring Sondheim Sublime to PAC on Sunday, November 12, performing with the Billy Stritch Jazz Trio.

From "Send in the Clowns" to "No One Is Alone," Errico sings the Sondheim masterpieces-from West Side Story, Gypsy, Into The Woods, and Sweeney Todd-delivering her insightful and witty vision of Broadway's greatest modern songwriter. She also provides a swinging look at Sondheim's influences from Cole Porter to Rodgers & Hammerstein-as well as her own personal relationship with the master-while joined by a jazz trio led by legendary music director Billy Stritch.
First known for her starring roles on Broadway, including My Fair Lady, High Society, Les Miserables, and more, Melissa became internationally recognized as a concert singer and recording artist currently touring from Singapore, London and Paris to San Francisco, in halls and nightclubs across the country. She recently chronicled touring life in a funny and illuminating essay "Girl Singer On The Road" in The New York Times as part of her ongoing column "Scenes From An Acting Life." (She became a standout writer for The New York Times in 2016.) Melissa made her Carnegie Hall debut in 2022 with The New York Pops singing such Sondheim hits as "Move On" and "Losing My Mind." She was introduced that night as "a unique force in the musical life of New York City. There is no one like her!"
Errico's album, "Sondheim Sublime" was called by The Wall Street Journal as "The best all-Sondheim album ever recorded." And her history with Sondheim began when he selected her to star as "Dot" in Sunday In The Park With George at The Kennedy Center, and she has since co-starred as "Clara" in Passion at Classic Stage Company, and in the New York City Center Encores! production of the Sondheim/Richard Rodgers musical Do I Hear A Waltz? In April 2020, she appeared in the much-talked about Sondheim 90th Birthday Concert with Broadway.com and in May, was featured on PBS' Poetry in America episode about Sondheim with Errico singing "Finishing the Hat." She will also be singing selections from her highly-anticipated new album "Sondheim In The City" (Spring 2024), a playful and swinging pop-inflected follow up to her lyrical, romantic (and sublime), first recording of his music. Errico is set to tour as an opening act for George Benson in Summer 2024.
