Adelphi Don Center Hosts Industry Experts for Virtual Seminar on AI in the Workforce
Garden City, NY (01/28/2025) — How is AI impacting all sectors of the modern workforce? Adelphi University's Elizabeth and Allen Don Center for Innovative Technology and Decision Sciences will host experts from academia, e-commerce and cutting-edge AI research for a virtual seminar on February 20, at noon. The 1-hour event will be held via Zoom and is free and open to the public. Registration is required to attend.
The seminar, led by leaders from Adelphi, FragranceNet.com and IBM will provide insights into leveraging AI for innovation, solving real-world challenges and driving business success. Attendees will learn about AI trends, practical applications and career tips in a rapidly evolving landscape.
The event will be moderated by Yue Han, associate professor of decision sciences and marketing at Adelphi.

Barbara Porter
Chief Operating Officer of FragranceNet.com
Porter has more than 35 years of experience at companies like 1800flowers.com and Getty Petroleum. She holds a BS in Computer Science from New York Tech, an MBA from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, an MS in Cybersecurity from New York University, and she is currently pursuing a Doctor of Engineering in AI and Machine Learning at George Washington University.
Michael O'Donnell
Assistant Clinical Professor at Adelphi University
After holding analytics roles at large corporations, O'Donnell joined CB4 as a Data Scientist and contributed to CB4's successful acquisition by GAP. He then transitioned to academia at Adelphi University. He holds a BA in Mathematics from the University of North Carolina Wilmington and an MS in Data Science from CUNY School of Professional Studies.
Shubhi Asthana
Senior Research Software Engineer at IBM Almaden Research Center
Asthana specializes in AI and machine learning solutions for privacy-preserving technologies. She holds a BE in Electronics and Telecommunication from Pune Institute of Computer Technology and an MS in Electrical and Computer Engineering from North Carolina State University.
