Adelphi Introduces Online MS in Nutrition and Dietetics
Garden City, NY (01/10/2024) — Students with a passion for health and wellness who are interested in a career in nutrition can now earn an MS in Nutrition and Dietetics at Adelphi University. To provide flexibility and accommodate busy schedules, the newly introduced graduate degree program coursework will be offered online with field work conducted in-person at professional settings.
Adelphi's MS in Nutrition and Dietetics prepares students to pass the registration examination for dietitians, which leads to the registered dietitian nutritionist (RDN) designation. With a master's degree in nutrition and dietetics, students are qualified to work in hospitals, schools, nursing homes, public health departments and health and fitness clubs, or counsel individual clients in private practice. Graduates can also contribute their expertise in the fields of food service and safety, workplace wellness or research.
Students enrolled in this program will complete 1,000 hours of Supervised Experiential Learning; 785 hours will be conducted in-person at professional work settings and 215 hours will be conducted through Alternate Experiences woven into coursework. In-person hours can be done in the location that the student lives.
The need for nutrition and dietetics experts is growing in the United States as more professionals are needed to help prevent diseases, promote overall well-being, manage healthcare costs, and address various health challenges, ranging from food insecurity to education and public policy needs.
