S&P Reaffirms Adelphi's A-, Stable Bond Rating
Garden City, NY (06/09/2025) — Standard & Poor's (S&P), the global leader in financial market intelligence, has reaffirmed Adelphi University's credit rating of A- with a stable outlook. This rating was determined by S&P's comprehensive evaluation of the University's financial health and creditworthiness.
"In today's higher education climate, this reaffirmation is a major vote of confidence in Adelphi," said Michael Rhattigan, Adelphi's chief financial officer. "S&P's decision reflects our strong financial stewardship and strategic management, even amid ongoing regional and national enrollment pressures."
Adelphi's stable outlook reflects S&P Global Ratings' opinion that enrollment will continue to stabilize and that the university will maintain its disciplined approach to expense management to improve operating performance, while at least maintaining its other financial resources.
"At a time when other U.S. colleges and universities-including many highly selective institutions-are facing downgrades, this outcome highlights Adelphi's resilience and forward-looking planning," Rhattigan said.
