Adelphi Launches 'Momentum 2' Strategic Plan Focused on Academics, Inclusivity and Infrastructure
Garden City, NY (10/12/2022) — Adelphi University has set its sights on the future with the launch of its new five-year plan, "Momentum 2." Also known as M2, it was created by the Adelphi community to leverage the success of its just-completed Momentum five-year strategic plan-with higher targets and increasingly innovative goals set through 2027.
"Momentum 2 charts a new path for Adelphi's continued success as a modern University," said Adelphi University President Christine M. Riordan, PhD. "Focusing on our mission, our people and our resources, we are positioned to impact lives for years to come."
More than 1,400 students, alumni, faculty and staff joined together in thoughtful planning and evaluation during university-wide forums to develop M2. President Riordan also hosted workshops with the Adelphi University Board of Trustees to guide the strategic plan forward.
"We embraced every voice, and our Trustees remained actively engaged throughout the development of M2," Dr. Riordan added. "The result is a comprehensive roadmap for smart growth, extraordinary academic programs and student achievements."
Momentum 2 focuses on three overarching goals in support of the university's mission of transforming lives and its vision of becoming a nationally respected leader for redefining the practical and personal value of education for students,:
Goal 1: Academic Distinction in Our Core Four
Adelphi will deepen and strengthen the University's focus on advancing intellectual rigor, research, creativity and community engagement across Adelphi's four core academic areas: arts and humanities, STEM and social sciences, the business and education professions, and health and wellness.
Goal 2: Inclusive Community and Connectivity
The University will embrace and foster relationships within the Adelphi community and beyond, maximizing shared values and purpose. Adelphi's community will be purposeful in creating a safe and welcoming space for individual expression and growth and the pursuit of success.
Goal 3: Smart Growth and Infrastructure
Adelphi's growth will remain aligned with the mission, vision, and values while responding to changing demands of higher education. The University will continue sound stewardship of Adelphi's resources, and the institution will operate and grow with efficiency, thoughtfulness and effectiveness.
Each of the three goals includes a commitment to honor four themes important to all University work:
- Fostering diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging
- Serving each other, Adelphi's students, the community, the region and society at large.
- Maintaining an integrative and collaborative approach.
- Ensuring accountability and effectiveness.
The plan was approved by the Adelphi University Board of Trustees in June 2022.
