Adelphi PAC Favorites and More Return for the Spring Season
Garden City, NY (01/28/2022) — The Adelphi University Performing Arts Center (PAC) kicks off its spring season in February with more than 20 cultural events in theater, music, and dance slated through June 2022.
The season includes concert performances that pay tribute to America's great composers and vocalists. Included in the lineup are the Jupiter String Quartet in February and A Celebration of Aretha Franklin and Tina Turner and the all-male vocal ensemble amarcord in March. Acclaimed international plays Comic Potential in March and Celebrity Autobiography in April are sure to bring hilarity to the Adelphi PAC, while Valjean, Cosette, and a String Quartet with Tony nominee Josh Young and his wife, Broadway's Emily Padgett pays homage to the great musicals of the 1980s in May.

Highlights for the spring season include:
Friday, February 11 -- Jupiter String Quartet: American Prism
The Jupiter String Quartet's American Prism is inspired by the music of America's most loved composers from the last 125 years. Members of the Jupiter String Quartet are violinists Nelson Lee and Meg Freivogel, violist Liz Freivogel, and cellist Daniel McDonough. The show runs 85 minutes without an intermission.
Saturday , February 19 and Sunday, February 20 -- Adelphi's Best of Broadway featuring a Tribute to Stephen Sondheim
Adelphi University's students take to the stage in this perennial favorite show as they celebrate the life and work of luminary Broadway composer Stephen Sondheim through song and dance.
Tuesday, March 1 through Sunday, March 6 -- Comic Potential by Alan Ayckbourn Britain's
Grand Master of Comedy Alan Ayckbourn has created this funny and inventive play that has already wowed audiences in London and New York. Directed by Brian Rose, the show combines satire on television and romantic comedy. With seven opportunities to see a performance, Comic Potential is not to be missed.
Saturday, March 12 -- A Celebration of Aretha Franklin and Tina Turner
A cast of Broadway vocalists are joined by the North Shore Symphony Orchestra to celebrate the iconic songs of two of music's greatest talents. Favorite selections will include "Respect," "Natural Woman," "What's Love Got to Do With It," "River Deep, Mountain High," "Proud Mary" and more. Sunday, March 27 -- amarcord: America!
The all-male vocal ensemble amarcord, travels from Leipzig, Germany to New York to offer a program that traverses the history of vocal music in America. Highlights include works from George Chadwick and Horatio Parker, the father of American modernist music Charles Ives, "the Dean of American Composers" Aaron Copland, Samuel Barber, and contemporary American composers Steven Sametz, Vanessa Lann and Joanne Metcalf.
Friday, April 22 -- El Mundo: The Kingdoms of the Castille
El Mundo is dedicated to the performance of sixteenth through nineteenth century Latin American, Spanish and Italian chamber music. Made up of the finest period instrument performers, El Mundo combines voices and bowed strings with the rarely heard accompaniment forces of mixed guitars, lutes and percussion in a setting that recreates the distinctive Latin sound of the old and new world. Featured composers will include: Roque Ceruti, Jose de Orejon y Aparicio, Santiago de Murcia, Rafael Antonio Castellanos, Manuel Quiroz.
Saturday, April 30 -- Celebrity Autobiography
Get ready to laugh out loud watching this award-winning international and Broadway comedy where stars act out biographies of other stars. The show has been critically acclaimed around the world including London's West End, Australia's Sydney Opera House, and on Broadway. Emmy award nominated writer-performers Eugene Pack and Dayle Reyfel created and developed the comedy. The Poole Family Broadway Series at the Adelphi PAC is generously sponsored by Mary Jane and Thomas Poole.
Friday, May 6 -- Valjean, Cosette, and a String Quartet
Join Tony nominee Josh Young and his wife, Broadway star Emily Padgett as they sing and celebrate the musicals of the 1980's. A string quartet as well as the Adelphi PAC's own Fazioli piano provide the beautiful music of such treasures as Les Miserables, The Phantom of the Opera, Cats, and more. The Poole Family Broadway Series at the Adelphi PAC is generously sponsored by Mary Jane and Thomas Poole.

Additional events for the spring season include performances by Dance Adelphi featuring Heroes by Takehiro Ueyama on Wednesday, April 20 through Sunday, April 24; the Adelphi Jazz Ensemble on Friday, May 13; the Chamber Orchestra of New York on Memorial Day Monday, May 30; and the Greater Nassau Chorus ending Adelphi PAC's season on Friday, June 10.
