Adelphi Partners with PALS for Inclusive Summer Camp

Garden City, NY (06/23/2022) — This summer, Adelphi University is partnering with PALS New York to host a week-long inclusive summer camp experience for young people with Down syndrome and their peers. From July 3 to 9, 20 campers will enjoy a variety of activities, live on Adelphi's Garden City campus and attend field trips.

Founded in 2004, PALS Programs is a nonprofit oranization that creates inclusive camp experiences for people with and without Down syndrome. The volunteer-led programs aim to change attitudes, transform lives, and inspire a world of belonging. This summer PALS will host programs in 15 locations across the country.

"We are so excited to be returning to communities across the country to share our message of connection and belonging at a time when the world needs it the most," said Jenni Newbury Ross, executive director at PALS Program.

Over the course of the week, the pairs will stay in campus accommodations while enjoying activities and experiences on campus and throughout the region. Activities will include a day at Jones Beach, a field trip to Coney Island, and a camper favorite, "PALS Olympics."
