Business Leaders to Discuss Workplace Challenges in Adelphi Online Event

'Leadership in a Squid Game World'

Garden City, NY (11/30/2021) — Two business trailblazers will discuss overcoming today's workplace challenges on Wednesday, December 8, at 6 p.m. The Adelphi University event, "Leadership in a Squid Game World," will be held online and is open to the public.

Event speakers are Marc Strachan, chairman of the Adelphi Board of Trustees and former executive vice president and chief client officer of Publicis Sapient, and Luke Cooper, a tech entrepreneur and founder and former CEO of Fixt. They will discuss leadership differences past and present, diversity in the workplace and lessons they learned about what it takes to lead.

A senior-level marketing and advertising executive, Strachan is chair of ADCOLOR, an organization that celebrates and advocates diversity in the creative and technology industries. He previously held positions as executive vice president and chief client officer at Publicis Sapient, North America, and vice president of on-premise strategy and multicultural marketing and director of brand marketing for Ciroc Vodka and Tanqueray Gin at Diageo, North America. In 2018, he earned a Certificate in Strategies for Leading Successful Change Initiatives from the Harvard Division of Continuing Education. He is founder and head coach for Coach Marc Consulting and principal and chief marketing officer of Adgile Media Group, the nation's first data-driven truck-side advertising/media company. He graduated from Adelphi in 1981,

Cooper, a 1998 Adelphi graduate, is one of only three Black founders of U.S. businesses to reach a multi-million dollar exit during the pandemic. Most recently, he was the founder and CEO of Fixt, an on-demand technology company focused on enterprise tech support, servicing Fortune 500 clients all over the country. In 2020, Fixt was sold to insurance giant Assurant.

In addition to investing in and advising companies in his portfolio, Cooper is a partner at Preface Ventures, a $23M fund focused on enterprise SaaS. Cooper's latest venture, Latimer, is a $500M fund focused on creating outcomes for women- and BIPOC-owned businesses. He also serves as an entrepreneur in residence at multiple institutions, providing counsel to students and leaders. His book "Mud to Magic: A Black Tech Entrepreneur's Journey" will release in 2022.
