Dark Comedy Mr. Burns, A Post-Electric Play by Anne Washburn at the Adelphi's PAC Nov. 1-5
Garden City, NY (10/23/2023) — Leap forward nearly a century during the imaginative dark comedy Mr. Burns. A Post-Electric Play at the Adelphi University Performing Arts Center (PAC) from Wednesday, November 1, through Sunday, November 5. Written and lyrics by Anne Washburn with a score by Michael Friedman, the immersive play follows a new civilization stumbling into its future. It is directed by Aileen Wen McGroddy.
Imagine after the collapse of civilization how a group of survivors spur the pop culture of the past-sitcom plots, commercials, jingles, and pop songs-into the live entertainment of a post-apocalyptic society. A paean to live theater, and the resilience of The Simpsons' character Bart Simpson through the ages, Mr. Burns, A Post-Electric Play is an animated exploration of how the pop culture of one era might evolve into the mythology of another.
Mr. Burns, A Post-Electric Play is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals on behalf of Samuel French, Inc.
The show will take place at Adelphi's PAC's Olmsted Theatre at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 1, and at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 2; Friday, November 3; and Saturday, November 4. Matinees at 2 p.m. will be performed on Saturday, November 4, and Sunday, November 5.
