Founder and CEO of Emmis Communications to Discuss New Book, Give Entrepreneurial Tips at Adelphi
Garden City, NY (03/21/2023) — CEO and Chairman of the Board of Emmis Corporation, Jeff Smulyan, will discuss his path to success and his first book, "Never Ride a Rollercoaster Upside Down: The Ups, Downs, and Reinvention of an Entrepreneur," at Adelphi University on Wednesday, April 12, at 7 p.m. The event, which will be hosted virtually, is part of Adelphi's "Great Minds, Great Conversations" series.
From owning the Seattle Mariners Major League Baseball team to starting America's first all sports radio station and managing David Letterman, Smulyan will discuss his fluctuating journey of being an entrepreneur as well as some of his book's valuable pointers and tips for anyone interested in starting their own business. The discussion, "An Evening with Jeff Smulyan," will be moderated by Adelphi Trustee Steve Jones, a 1989 Adelphi graduate.
Smulyan's Emmis Corporation, an Indianapolis-based publicly traded diversified holding company, was named one of Fortune Magazine's 100 Best Companies to Work For due to its vibrant, collaborative culture. He has also been recognized as a "Giant of Broadcasting," by the Library of American Broadcasting, received the National Association of Broadcasters National Radio Award and was inducted in the Broadcasting & Cable Hall of Fame and the Indiana Business Hall of Fame. Recently, he was inducted into the Radio Hall of Fame.
