Long Island High School Performers to Hone Their Skills at Adelphi's 'A Day with the Arts'
Garden City, NY (09/22/2022) — On Friday, October 7, over 200 aspiring actors, dancers and musicians from fifteen high schools across Long Island will spend the day at Adelphi University crafting their skills through intensive hands-on workshops led by the University's faculty. Adelphi's Day with the Arts, will run from 8:15 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. in the University's Performing Arts Center.
The workshops will cover acting, music and theatre with specific focus on areas such as acting with accents, make-up for the stage, stage combat, theatre games, college audition prep, creating stage props, scenic painting, puppet making and artivism. The workshops will also include broadway song coaching, classical song coaching, fun with ukuleles, creating music digitally and dance for musical theatre.
Keynote Speaker Blaine Alden Krauss
After the workshops, students will hear from keynote speaker Blaine Alden Krauss. A Broadway performer and actor, Krauss was most recently seen on stage starring in the National Tour of "Hamilton" as the stand-by for both Hamilton and Burr. He was also part of the second season of "Pose" while performing in "The Cher Show" on Broadway. Prior to that he starred as Lola in "Kinky Boots" shortly after making his Broadway debut in the musical "Natasha, Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812." He has traveled the world as 'Simba' in "The Lion King" and starred in the Radio City Summer Spectacular. Krauss regularly performs with symphonies around the world and is a regular performer at Feinstein's/54 Below. He is a proud graduate of the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music.
