Sophia Bush to Speak at Adelphi's 4th Annual Women's Leadership Conference
Film and TV actress and activist Sophia Bush will serve as the keynote speaker of Adelphi University's Women's Leadership Conference.
Garden City, NY (11/02/2020) — Adelphi University's annual Women's Leadership Conference recognizes the careers of graduates and friends while providing the opportunity to create meaningful business connections. The fourth annual conference, on Saturday, November 7, will be a morning filled with leadership training and professional development, featuring actress and activist Sophia Bush as the keynote speaker.
The theme of the 2020 conference is "Thriving in a New World." With the conference presented virtually due to the pandemic, attendees will have the chance to come together from all across the world to connect and experience engaging conversations on topics such as resiliency, navigating hard conversations and mindfulness in extraordinary times.
The conference will kick off with Bush's keynote address "Creating Your Best You," moderated by Adelphi alumna Dana Blair BFA '04, MBA '08. Bush will talk about her passions from education, having a balanced life, and everything in between. She will touch on her philosophy that activism and volunteerism is not a part of your life, but rather a way of "doing life." Bush is a cofounder of the voting organization, "I am a voter," as well as an owner of the new LA women's soccer team, Angel City. Drawing from her own experiences, Bush invites audiences "to dare to care about everything."
The conference, co-hosted by Adelphi's Center for Career and Professional Development and Office of Alumni Relations, is open to the public as well as members of the Adelphi community including students, alumni, faculty, staff, parents and friends of the University.
"This year, coming together for our Women's Leadership Conference is more important than ever," said Jodie Sperico, executive director of alumni relations. "With all the difficulties we have faced and continue to face during these uncertain times, providing our Panthers with resources that emphasize resiliency, and how to rise to these challenges and be successful, is so valuable."
Hosted via Zoom Webinar, the conference will run from 10 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., with a half hour at the end set aside for networking. The event is free, though registration is required. To learn more and register, visit adelphi.edu/womens-leadership.
